Wheel Balancing

The most common symptoms of a wheel balancing problem include vibrations in the steering wheel at higher speeds and, in time, accelerated and uneven wear to the tyres.

We expect our wheels to be perfectly round and assume that tyres are equally dense around their circumference. Although this is broadly true there are always small differences and with time, those differences sometimes grow. Although the differences are very small, they have an effect when rotating at speed and to prevent this, qualified fitters perform wheel balancing by adding small weights in key positions. Wheel balancing is also required when tyres are fitted or re-fitted on their rims.

Our tyre professionals can sometimes tell if you need wheel balancing just by performing a tyre inspection. Catching the problem early avoids costly consequences including accelerated wear to your steering and suspension so why not book a free inspection with our tyre professionals today.
